The Conway Scenic Railroad is based just a bit south of us and is hugely popular with tourists as well as locals. This view by photographer Johnathan Lee Mortenson shows the “Notch Train” at its destination about 35 miles away, Crawford Depot. After leaving the iconic North Conway station, the train wends its way up through gorgeous scenery, shown here in fall foliage. There’s an exciting crossing over 80’ high Frankenstein Trestle – spanning 500’ from cliff to cliff - and then on to Crawford’s. At an elevation of approximately 1900 feet, the notch itself and the pioneering Crawford family have a fascinating history. 1,000 piece puzzle with a finished size of 24” x 30”.
