Acadia National Park is located off the Atlantic coast and marked by woodland, rocky beaches and glacier-scoured granite peaks such as Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the United States' east coast. The park is a popular recreation area covering 47,000 acres. The bayside town of Bar Harbor, a popular getaway, has many unique restaurants and shops.
