GenCon - Day 0.5

"Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn't it? If you're comfortable while you're doing it, you're probably doing it wrong."
- Ted Lasso

Today we begin loading product into GenCon. Due to some serious booth optimization efforts, this year we're able to stock north of 1,500 different games and accessories in our 10x20 booth. We've got the hottest games, deep cut expansions, long tail, plush, TCG, and more.

Space is a serious constraint, but GenCon allows us to go 8 feet high, so we've decided to lean into Ivar racks from IKEA (the same ones we have in our Noblesville store). These shelves let us optimize vertical space without too many cutouts for support. They are 89" high and give us the ability to pack the booth.

Knowing the cubic square footage of shelf space helps us estimate how many games we can bring, and guides our decision making. Next, we run some reports from Shopify that narrow down the options. Our goal is to have one of as many games as possible. As a local LGS we have the fortune to be able to restock during the con...so we can load in one-of a game and if it sells...get another tomorrow.

That said, we just received a shipment of 60 copies of Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy so we are going deep on that title. We expect we may be the only folks to have it and it's an absolute beast of a game.

More tomorrow,

-Jayson
