Moonshot Invitational $1K - Top 8

In the midst of Gen Con, we held our eleventh event in the Moonshot Invitational $1K Series on 9/18 at our Noblesville Store, hosting some returning players as well as some new faces who came to compete in this Modern-format event.

Evan Wooden was able to snag first place with his Elementals deck, but since he had already qualified for an invite to our $10K Championship event in November, the invite passed on to our second-place finisher, Jordan Otero with his Hammer Time deck.  The rest of the Top Four players rounded out to be Cody Murray with his UR Murktide deck and Bob Culp with Hammer Time.  Both Cody and Bob have already qualified for our Championship as well, so the second invite was extended to Aaron Higgins who took fifth place with his Affinity deck.

The Top 8 for 9/18's event were as follows:
Place Player Deck
1st Evan Wooden Elementals
2nd Jordan Otero Hammer Time
3rd Cody Murray UR Murktide
4th Bob Culp Hammer Time
5th Aaron Higgins Affinity
6th James Moskal Breach Station
7th Sam Grimes Elves
8th AJ Byrkett GB Yawgmoth

Moskal's overall points lead was extended yet again as his overall point total jumped to a whopping 80 points - closing in on the first 2-Round Bye in the series.  With his win this week, Evan Wooden has jumped into second place in the overall points standings, earning himself a 1-round bye in the process.  Things are really starting to heat up for the Championship in November, and the competition is getting fierce!  For a full list of the current standings in the Moonshot Invitational Series, along with all players' current point totals, click here.

This Saturday's Tournament will be back at our Mass Ave location now that Gen Con is behind us, and will be the first Standard format event in the series.  This will be a very interesting event, as we'll get to see how players are adjusting their Standard decks to the new rotation and implementing the brand new Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set into their arsenal.

Registrations are now open for all remaining events in the series.  We highly encourage purchasing your entry early, as these events have sold out.  Register today for this Saturday's event!

The Moonshot Invitational Series consists of 17 $1K events from June through October that qualify players for a $10K tournament on November 6th. Full details here.

We hope to see you there!
